Offers In Compromise
Determining If You Qualify In order for us to determine if you qualify for an Offer in Compromise, we conduct a brief interview and have you complete a special questionaire that provides us with the detailed information we will need to prepare the document. And we will handle all communication with the IRS regarding your Offer in Compromise. Once you hire us, they are required to contact us, not you. How Long Does It Take? Generally it takes the IRS between 3 to 6 months to approve an Offer in Compromise, so you have time to put the lump-sum payment together. After IRS acceptance of your Offer in Compromise, we can get you an additional 90 days to pay it. Sometimes we can even obtain a payment plan if the lump sum is not feasible. Reducing The Amount of Your Settlement Many taxpapers have had taxes incorrectly assessed or they simply cannot afford to pay the taxes owed. The Offer in Compromise is a formal written document prepared by the taxpayer's representative expressing a doubt that the tax liability exists or demonstrating an inability to pay the tax liability. In most instances, an Offer in Compromise allows the taxpayer to settle his tax debt for a fraction of the amount owed. As a general rule, Offer in Compromise settlements are made in a single lump-sum payment. When done correctly, your debt could potentially be settled for as little as 5 to 15% of the tax liability you owe. This is why it is so important to have a qualified tax professional working for you. Our experienced tax professionals understand the IRS evaluation procedures and tax law pertaining to Offers in Compromise and are able to help you settle for the least amount of money. |
