File these Office Cliches in the Circular File
From Suzanne Lucas writing for Yahoo!’s Financially Fit:
What corporate jargon are you tired of? Career Builder asked 5,000 workers what corporate buzzwords they’d like to see off the table.
Here are the top (or bottom!) phrases that should be banished from the planet:
- Outside the box (31%)
- Low-hanging fruit (24%)
- Synergy (23%)
- Loop me in (22%)
- Best of breed (19%)
- Incentivize (19%)
- Mission-critical (19 %)
- Bring to the table (18%)
- Value-add (17%)
- Elevator pitch (16%)
I have a few more:
- Team player
- Positive/Negative feedback
- Crunch time
- Deal breaker
- Win-Win Situation
- File this in the Circular File
- Something or other “101″ (as in Tax 101 or Psychology 101 or Dating 101)
- Control your own destiny (this is a sports oxymoron, but I hate it so much I had to include it on the list. The whole idea of destiny is that you can’t control it.)
And, finally, here are a few tax cliches that deserve extermination:
- Don’t let the tax tail wag the dog
- Code ride
- Tax tips
- Loopholes
Can you think of any more?

I would add: “Diversity is our strength.” But it would be politically incorrect to expound on the why.
Happy,
How about “I’m a people person.”
I hate “puts it all into perspective”
