Termination of Accountant status due to income tax fraud allegations

Dear AICPA member,We have been notified of your alleged involvement in tax return fraud on behalf of one of your employers. According to AICPA Bylaw Subsection 730 your Certified Public Accountant license can be withdrawn in case of the occurrence of filing of a misguided or fraudulent income tax return on the member’s or a client’s behalf. Please familiarize yourself with the complaint below and respond to it within 21 days. The failure to respond within this term will result in suspension of your Accountant license.

Nutty stuff, especially since the AICPA doesn’t license Certified Public Accountants, state boards of accountancy do. And the nutballs cite Section 730 of the AICPA bylaws which states only that your membership in that organization will be terminated if your license is terminated. The AICPA itself has no authority to revoke your CPA license.

I don’t know what the purpose of this particular scam is, but I do know that people who can’t make money legitimately and legally often resort to scams. These pathetic f0lks are usually lazy and not that bright, as evidenced by the imbecility of the above notice.

Snarky aside: The guy who conjured up this one, no doubt, is a proud member of The Occupy Wall Street movement.
